NBA News: Tyler Herro gewinnt Sixth Man of the Year

Tyler Herro is the Sixth Man of the Year of the 2021/22 season! Miami Heat’s Guard won the voting among the 100 media representatives with a huge lead. Maxi Kleber also received a voice.

The 22-year-old received 96 of possible 100 first votes, the remaining four media representatives led the heat Youngster on their ballot paper as a second (2) or third place (2). Herro received a total of 488 points – more than twice as many as Kevin Love, who ended up in second place in the voting.

The CAVS veteran gathered three first votes and received most of the second votes for a total of 214 points. Cam Johnson (Phoenix Suns) finished third with 128 points.

Herro is the first Heat player in the history of the franchise to get the award as the best Sixth you can get in the season. In 56 of his 66 missions he came from the bank for Miami, he put on average 20.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists in quotas of 44.7 percent from the field and 39.9 percent of downtown. All of these figures represented career values. With eight games with at least 30 points from the bank, he also collected the third part of such performances in a season since 1970/71.

“That means with a lot,” Herro told AP addressed to the award. “I accepted the role as Sixth for a good reason. I wanted to be the best Sixth man in the league.” With his achievements, he had a decisive share in the 53-29 record of the Heat, which was enough for first place in the east in the regular season.
