HSV celebrates the first leg victory at Hertha
Hertha coach Felix Magath decided to make three changes after the 1-2 in Dortmund on the 34th matchday of the Bundesliga – sometimes involuntarily. For example, Christensen, the busy number four goalkeeper of the Berliner, made his debut because Lotka suffered a broken nose and a concussion at BVB and would continue to fail (muscle injury) and Jarstein (after knee surgery). Marton Dardai (hip problems) and Selke (muscular problems in the thigh) also had to fit again.
In addition to Christians, Wollschläger (starting debut) began – and instead of Ascacibar (yellow lock) and Ekkelenkamp (not in the squad).
HSV coach Tim Walter, on the other hand, took only one change in comparison to the 3-2 win with Hansa Rostock on the 34th and last second division matchday: Rohr replaced Vagnoman (bank).
excitement for tube, pecarik and Belfodil
For a long time, the first half of the game was particularly characterized by tactical discipline and also some nervousness. At first there were no gate shots.
It was only after half an hour that it became a bit more turbulent, which was particularly due to two scenes: in the 32nd minute, Glatzel came to the shot in the penalty area, which was crucially deflected by the outstretched arm of Pekarik. After a VAR check and subsequent video studies, Referee Harm Osmers decided on free kick for Hertha-because Rohr had jumped the ball in the creation of the bald chance to the edge of the penalty area, however, to the body, however, closely held on the body.
Shortly before the break, the Berliners supposedly took the lead with their first shot on goal. Belfodil scored after the flank of Mittelstädt. However, the direct offside decision also existed according to Var-Check, because Belfodil was actually offside when passing, albeit very scarce (44.). So it finally stayed with the goalless draw after half with hardly any highlights.

rice succeeds in a dream goal
After the break, Magath Jovetic brought Wollschläger (46.) for debutant. And the Montenegrin actually had the first chance of shooting in the 57th minute after the restart. But the first goal was to be scored on the other: The rice that was released on the left of the penalty area hit from a very pointed angle with a Schlenzer over Christians – and with the help of the inner post – to 1-0 for the second division club.
Anyone who had expected a stormy Hertha then saw themselves deceived. Although the Berliners tried, however, were rarely able to prevail against the Hamburgers, who in turn played straightforward. After the flank of Kittel, Kempf saved just in the five -meter room in front of Glatzel (68th). Even after that, the HSV looked more alert and well in his actions, while Hertha acted too without ideas and inaccurate during its offensive efforts. After Joker Gyamerah failed in added time after a counterattack with a shot on Christians (90.+3), the number of second division clubs remained but well deserved.
In the second leg in Hamburg on Monday (8:30 p.m.), it will finally be decided which of the two teams in the coming season 2022/23 in the Bundesliga. The HSV would return to the Bundesliga after four years of abstinence.
